About our Troop
Our troop is a place where the boys can experience the unique and fun outdoor adventures available in backcountry Colorado, while learning self-responsibility and leadership. We're chartered by the Susan M. Duncan Family YMCA, 6350 Eldridge St., Arvada, Colorado. We meet at the YMCA on Tuesday evenings from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
Principles
- Permit the boys the unique experience of operating their own troop. The troop exists for the boys to plan and conduct their outdoor program. The troop is committed to training our youth leaders and trusting them to run the troop.
- Get to know each boy on an individual basis and help him develop to his full potential. The Scoutmaster meets regularly with each scout and helps them find activities and opportunities for personal growth.

Our Troop likes to help out at District and Council events, like at the Mountain Man Rendezvous Camporee.
- Live the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan. The Scout Law is our Code of Conduct.
- Have a quality year-round outdoor program with FUN, ADVENTURE and SPIRIT. Focus the troop program to enable backcountry experiences. Teach and use Leave No Trace principles in our activities. Our program offers accessible and rewarding activities to all our scouts. So far, we've done hiking, camping, biking, canoeing, fishing, mountain climbing, and backpacking. We're the troop for scouts who don't mind spending a little extra effort to reach a mountain pass, or a high mountain lake to see great views, frolic around a waterfall, or share a campsite with wildlife.
- Fully implement the Aims and Methods of Scouting. We offer a comprehensive scouting program with a focus on the ultimate purpose of scouting!
- Be active in service to the community, including developing good working relationships with area Cub Scout packs. Our current scouts come from
Broomfield, Westminster, Coal Creek, Arvada, and Golden! We perform service in
all these communities.
- Have ample qualified, registered, and trained leaders and supportive parents to provide the appropriate amount of support to the boys. We have fully-trained adult leaders! The Scoutmaster is Wood Badge trained.
